Hope (at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital)
My wonderful dog decided that I wanted him to lie down on top of me when I laid on the floor after going to the park with him. He was right, but I would of preferred that he had not gone swimming at the park :P
~Este Es Mi Hermana~
My sister is, by far, the most influential person in my life.
She would always make sure that I did right as I was growing up, and punished me for wrongdoings in the most “unique” of all ways. I have been taken down and sat on till I have apologized for something I did (she’s a black belt), and I have been doused with water for not eating my vegetables (green beans were ick). What a baby-sitter, ya know?!
I have always felt the desire to excel in grades, because I wanted my sister to be proud of me. My sister excelled in grades throughout middle/highschool to graduate with honors (while engaging in women’s choir (which, by the way, she has the voice of an angel and uber skill with a guitar). She also held a job and went to multiple mission trips to Mexico and West Virginia during this whole time. She went on to college where she graduated early, with honors as an ESL (English Second Language) teacher (still continuing to work and go on mission trips to the Czech Republic, Mexico, etc.). My sister understands 3-5 languages and loves in every single one (I know she knows English, Spanish, and Arabic, and I think she knows some Czech and Russian.).
My sister is the greatest mother I know. Never a harsh word, overflowing with love, but certain to punish for wrongdoings. Her kiddos are a mirror of her own silliness, love, and intellect.
Her first born child was diagnosed with brain cancer at 6months old, (learn more at www.josiah-updates.blogspot.org ) and yet remains strong in her faith in the good Lord. She professes her love of God and displays it brightly in her life.
I look up to my sister and rely on her good judgment in everything I do. She is Uber supportive. I always have her backing me up, although she will let me know if I’m being an idiot. She is so very easy to talk to about just about anything. Just because we don’t necessarily agree on every topic, doesn’t mean we keep from talking about it. A long drive with her is an awesome chance to just talk about EVERYTHING.
She is funny, loving, smart, and dependable. She’ll send me random pictures/letters in the mail that lift my spirits to new heights. She’ll randomly leave me messages in Spanish or just a recording of the “Macarena” song. I can go to the zoo with her, go running a couple miles with her, or just hang out with her and the kids at the house.
This is one of my very best friends and my sister, and I wouldn’t trade her for all the money in the world.
I am proud of my sister on so many levels.
I love my sister with all my heart and more. Thank you dear dear Lord for blessing me with such a role model of a sister.
